Todd Parker Judge
- Director of Design
- GM Exterior Component and Accessories Studio
As Director of Design, GM Exterior Components and Accessories, Todd is responsible for lighting, wheel and accessory design and common parts design for all of Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac. In addition, Todd also oversees specialty car development like Chevrolet’s SEMA vehicles, pace cars, special offering packages and editions.
Todd knows he has found his niche, although he was initially studying to become an architect. “I was three years into an architecture program,” he explains. “And, late one night I watched a television show about automotive design. I was amazed. I didn’t even know automotive design was a job. They showed the sketches and models that the students were creating… and I was hooked. I knew right then and there that’s what I wanted to do.”
There was no looking back and Todd transferred to the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and landed a job at General Motors after graduation.
He has held several positions in the company throughout his career, including lead designer in the Chevrolet exterior studio, and was design manager for the Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy. Todd says there is so much design heritage inside GM that you don’t have to look far for inspiration. “GM probably has the largest portfolio of product, and the longest history in great design. There is so much to be learned from the shapes and forms of GM vehicles from the past and present.”
Born and raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Todd is a self-avowed sports junkie. He says his favorite sports teams are whichever ones his two sons are currently on. When he’s not coaching their teams, he indulges his other passion of classic car restoration – studying their designs, of course.
